Alright, I'm starting a new series that I might do when I'm bored. There's no set schedule for posting because I have a life. The goal of this series is to discuss specific items, the strategies surrounding them, their viability in the Bed Wars meta, and how to balance them. It'll be interesting, I think, to see how the community feels about each item.

With that out of the way, let's get into the post :D

Item:
Diamond Sword
Price: *The Solos / Doubles price may be inaccurate, I mostly play Teams
3 Emeralds in Teams
4 Emeralds in Solos / Doubles

Item Description: It's a Diamond Sword. What more do I need to say?

The Diamond Sword is an item that I almost never buy. It can be useful, but Emeralds are usually better spent on Items like Potions and Bridge Eggs. I would suggest buying a Diamond Sword only when the player is a final and has extra Emeralds. This item is by no means unbalanced though: it's just a neat situational item that *usually* has no point.

Some strategies involving the Diamond Sword include:

  • Rushing Diamond Swords. This is risky and can be very detrimental if not pulled off correctly, but it can be very effective in Doubles, especially when playing in a party.

How good is the Diamond Sword in your opinion? How often do you buy it? Answer the poll if you feel like doing so, and thanks for your time :D

If you are a final kill by yourself its worth it if you have spare emeralds, but it is not nearly as powerful as potions, pearls, or diamond armour in terms of survivability. And if you are buying it as a non-final kill, then you need to rethink your use of emeralds...

with 8 ems, I like to buy a diamond sword and pearl, especially if I don’t already have an iron sword and want to spend the gold on armour or gaps.

It's very op with sharpness. But the thing is that it cost 3-4 emeralds and those ems could be spent on pots or pearl, which is why I rarely buy it. But I do sometimes but it when clutching.

I really only ever buy a diamond sword in one situation- when I’m a final and someone chases me into a base and I buy a dia sword quickly to win the fight. Sometimes it’s really clutch

Only if I had emeralds to spare and the team I'm facing is bad and I just do it because I want to kill them quickly.

I would say to make it actually viable and useful is for the diamond sword to last 2 lives instead of losing it on death

Diamond swords are not a bad item, it's just that if I have emeralds, I always want to purchase bridge eggs or potions with them, so the diamond sword rarely makes its way into my hotbar since it is very low on my list of what I prioritize with emeralds. I am more likely to purchase one if I am consistently losing to someone by a small amount of health, or have no bed and just want every possible advantage I can get.

Rarely is a great option, I only buy it if I have so much ems when bedless, that's it. Sometimes it's op other times it's useless, so situational is also a good word for describing it
